I have a really nice dress from prom (8 layers). Is that too much for a military ball?

should it be more of a homecoming dress? and how short is too short for a military ball?

A military ball is just that – a ball. Think Cinderella, Academy Awards.
A long, full dress will be perfect.

You can dress anyway you want at a military ball. Some people dress up like it is prom, and other don’t.

  3. I went to a marine ball a few years back. I wore a prom gown. If its not over the top, you are good to go

Edited Note: I dont know what type of prom that ‘joerides’ has been to, but I was talking about a nice CLASSY dress. Our prom didnt have a bunch of whores there. . . No plunging neck lines or nothing like that. If you have a nice conservative dress. Wear it.

  4. It’s a Military Ball, NOT A PROM! A Prom dress would be totally inappropriate. If that’s all you have, and you can’t afford to go and buy a regular gown, then wear it, but you may end up feeling a bit uncomfortable. I would go for something classic, that way you can use it again at weddings and such. And it shouldn’t be short, it’s time to grow up. Look at the classic gowns worn at big events, go along those lines. Forget the plunging necklines and backless gowns. As this is a Military Ball, you’re expected to show some respect.

  5. MORE a home coming dress. n o skirt shorter than several inches above the knees.
OK your MARINE will wear his dress Blues.
NOW you need to wear something that will
make him and you shine a dark blue skirt, and
    lite blue blouse.
    BUT just wear something nice.
Ask your guy what other ladies will wear.
When the dance is over, thank the commander
for a very nice time, and you in joyed the BALL
