What colour nail polish should I wear for my job interview?

I’m only 15 and I have my very first job interview today. It’s at a newsagency. And I want to wear some type of nail polish, but probably nothing too bright. What would be a nice colour? Also, what kind of questions are they likely to ask me? I’m stressing out!

Pages:
  1. You should wear red nail varnish! It is sophisticated, slightly sexy and compeltely timeless.
    They will probably ask you what your hobbies are (if you have done any volunteer work etc), if you are good with other people, about your punctuality, if you play an instrument (shows hard work + commitment). Anything really to get a better idea of whether you are a hard working person with good team skills who they will want.

  2. Cora{Dora}

    First good luck!:) Im actually a cosmetology student right now and we just finished going over dress and makeup for an interview. The best thing you could do it make sure your hairs look healthy. If you are healthy, filed, and not bitten you could get away with wearing only a top coat to give them shine. If you really want to wear polish wear a soft color something natural looking like a pale pink. Another good way is to do a french manicure type thing. A strip of white nail polish on the top of your nail looks clean, professional, and if you have short nails it give them the appearence of being longer than they actually are. As for what they will ask you. . . its all different depending on where the interview is. Some they might ask though are, what are some words you or someone else would use to describe your personality? Why do you want this job? How long would you want to work here? etc. My best piece of advice for an interview is go in looking confident. If you appear confident and intent they will know you really want they job. I hope you get the job good luck!

  3. Vintage Vixen

    I would do “mannequin hands” -a beige or fleshtone polish. It is both trendy and classy. They will probably ask you what you can bring to the company, what others would say about you, etc. they will also likely question your experience and work ethic.
    I like OPI sweet heart.

  4. I think for your age red nail polish may be too mature and bring attention to your nails versus your interview. Light natural colors, nudes and pastels are always classy and are age appropriate. French or American manicures as well as clear nail polish are time less classics. You will likely be asked what are your strengths/weaknesses, why should you be hired for the position, what can you offer the company?

  5. Job interviews are always stressful. The last thing you need to worry about it is whether your makeup is appropriate. Depending on how you feel that day, you can opt for a fresh face with no makeup, but not everyone can carry off the natural look. Less is more with regards to makeup for a job interview. Your look should leave an impression that you are well-groomed and professional. However, if you overdo your makeup, that impression may be the reason you don’t get the job.

    Keep Makeup Natural
    Sofemine suggest using a clean and natural look to enhance your features. Cover problem areas like under eye circles and blemishes with a concealer. Even out skin tones with foundation to create a smooth and polished look. Eye shadow should be a neutral tone to enhance your eyes without being distracting. Mascara makes your eyes the focal point, but be sure to brush out any clumps. To complete the look add a neutral lipstick.

    Pull Hair off Your Face
    Dry your hair completely for a professional look, and control flyaway or frizzy hair with a styling product. If your hair is long, pull it back into a pony tail or bun. Use a clear or matching hair tie, and avoid scrunchies or colorful ties. Keep your hair off your face for a clean look, and to eliminate the possibility that you will fidget with it.

    Trim Nails Short
    One of the first things you will do at the interview is shake hands. Subtle and clean nails present a simple and sophisticated look. French manicures and black polish may be trendy, but they are not appropriate for work. Allure recommends neatly groomed nails that are either buffed or polished in a nude shade. Keep your nails short and manicured for a job interview.
