I always dye my hair about every 2 months, sometimes even less, because the hair color I dye it doesn’t stay. My hair is naturally brown, and I have dyed it Deep Red many times. Right after I dye it, it comes out perfect. Then after A WEEK, it turns orange/goldish brown.
I hate the color so much, I have no idea why it doesn’t stay the right color! I follow the directions perfectly and this never happened when I first dyed my hair. I use color protector shampoo and conditioner even after the week, but it still changes /:
What do I do?! I always want to dye it again because I hate the color so much, but I don’t wanna damage my hair. Help, please!

Dying your hair an unnatural color like that will always cause fading. It’s a lot of upkeep. Colors like that wash out in the shower after not too many washes. Wash your hair in cold water, and get a color protective shampoo. This won’t solve your problem, but it will help.
when you dye your hair red, it’s going to fade fast. it’s a major upkeep.
but to keep it the shade you want it for a little while longer, you have to wash your hair with cold water. it doesn’t make it fade as fast as hot water does. and if you flat iron or blow dry your hair, it helps if you put heat protectant oil before you do.
I have this exact same problem right now:( I hate when it fades cause it’s such a nice red right after I dye it!! Do you bleach your hair? it may stay better, also, use specialized shampoo for red hair and I also heard not to wassh your hair for a couple days after you dye it, ALSO, cool water helps to seal the colour or something like that ! lol
Red hair dye fades faster than any other hair die.
I don’t know why exactly but my hairdresser told me it fades a lot faster.
How often do you wash your hair?
The more you wash your hair, obviously it’s going to come out faster, regardless if your using colour protectant. Wash it every few days (4 times a week perhaps)
Do you have hot showers? Hot water strips hair.
Try washing your hair in a look warm water instead of hot.
Also, for the last minute of so, rinse with cold water, as cold as you can take it.
It closes the poors in you scalp which prevents it from being oily. If you do this, it wont get as greesy and therefor you won’t have to wash as often.
How often to you use straightners or heat things?
The more damaged your hair is, the worse the colour stays.
Use a teatment mask now and again on your hair to improve the condition of it. The healthier you hair, the longer the hair dye will stay:)
Also i heard having your hair dyed when its not that clean helps, but im not sure on that one.
Never stop using colour protect shampoo!!
Good luck x
