i wash my hair every 3 days and then dry it with the hair dryer and straighten it. i use shampoo and conditioner for dry hair and i use a leave in conditioner that protects hair from heat styling but my hair is getting worse!
i used to have gorgeous healthy hair and now the ends are split and breaking off and i don’t know how to fix it! i’ve tried hair treatments and i use all the right products, i went to a petra haircare shop and they looked at my hair and i talked to them for a bit and they told me what would be best to use but it just doesn’t seem to help. my hair is getting worse! i get regular hair cuts too
is there anything i can do or do i need to lay off the hair dryer and straightener to get healthier hair? any ideas would be wonderful!
also i don’t dye my hair, it’s long- about waist length

have you changed shampoos recently?
if so check the pH levels in your shampoo it could be too high and it could be drying out your hair. also the drying and straitening isn’t all that great try mousse and and braids to have a messy curly look it will be a lot less damaging
I think your hair is exhausted of everything that you are putting on it. Don’t wash it so much that can also dry it out. wash it maybe once a week. It might sound gross but it helps. That will also lay off the heat from drying and straightening every third day. And when you do wash it. put your leave in stuff on and take your hair drying and blow over your hair so the moisture’s of the product can go into your pores.
you have to go get your split ends cut off because they cant get fixed. also try not to blow dry your hair, the heat might be makking your hair dry. to prevent getting split ends, its better to brush your hair when its wet or to be more careful when you brush out knots and stuff
Try using one or the other. Do not blow dry and straighten.
It is best to use an ionic blow dryer, and use medium heat.
A straightener with adjustable heat and ceramic plates are best for your hair. Try turning the temp down a little, and straighten smaller sections of hair at a time.
Avoid using hairspray, moose or anything else with a lot of alcohol in it.
Deep condition once a week.
Do you have hard water? This can WRECK hair! If you cant get a water softener, try buying a filtered shower head. This may be the root of the problem, as it sounds like you do take pretty good care of your hair.
Do not brush wet hair.
Anytime you are going to be in chlorinated water, or salt water, put conditioner in your hair first.
Also, every one gets split ends. No matter how healthy the hair. Be sure to get regular trims. If you have split ends, and do not get them trimmed, your hair can fray all the way up the hair shaft.
Good Luck=]
What shampoo/conditioner brand do you use? Recently my hair has been pretty dry and I find that the shampoos supposedly formulated for dry & damaged hair work exactly the same as regular shampoo. However I’ve heard that Herbal Essences ‘Hello Hydration’ actually hydrates your hair and I’m going to give that a try when I run out of shampoo.

Also is it necessary to both blowdry and straighten? I’ve done both for years and I find that straightening is drying, but blowdrying both dries and causes MASSIVE split ends! I’d suggest that you let your hair air dry, and straighten only if needed.
Also you should really look at using a heat protectant! I recommend Tresemme’s Thermal Creations range.
In the long run even if you keep repairing your hair, all the blowdrying and straightening will damage it again. The only permanent solution really is to reduce the amount of heat your hair is exposed to.
I know my advice wouldn’t be better than the others but here it goes :p
my friend an I used to hair dry our hair every 2days or so ! at the end of the year we ended up having split ends and damaged hair .
Since its vacation and I don’t go out much I stopped straightening it unless its a party or so .
After I shower I comb it and I apply Pantene : Oil replacement orany other product .
So the bottom line is that using less chemical products and heating devics reduced the damage !
Ttry using 100% natural products such as Laurel Soap or whatever it’s name is :p
Good luck nd have a nice day !
try hair oil; it really works! put it on at nite before bed and wake up and shampoo it off. usually coconut hair oil works the best but try others to suit ur hair
