The instructions always say that you must do an allergy test 48 hours before every time you dye your hair, even if you’ve used that same brand before. I’ve never done an allergy test and I’ve never had a reaction. My head sometimes itches but I think that’s normal.
I’m just interested to know what other people do. Do you do a test every time, never, or just when using a new brand?
Just out of curiosity: Do you do skin allergy tests before dyeing your hair?

Totally normal. . . I don’t think anybody takes an allergy test 48 hours before they dye there hair, that would kinda defeat the purpose of cheap and at home. . lol, but Idk that’s just me. I’ve never taken an allergy test but yeah my scalp is itchy every now and theb too.
i never did because i know im not allergic to many things so i know it is fine
no i never reacted when i first dyed hair back when i was 11 or 12 so i figured i don’t need too. i did get a mild weird burned feeling from l’oreal feria red dye 0. o

lol ive never done one and ive been dying my hair for years. occasionally get itchy, nothing else.
I don’t think I’ve ever tested them. I did however get a test done for the chemicals they use to permanently straighten hair, which turned out to be a good idea because I was allergic to them.
I’ve been dying and bleaching my hair quite regularly since I was 15 and I’m 29 now, I’ve only ever tested one once and that was on an occasion when I was using a permanent black hair-dye only because I’d heard that the darker the colour the more likely it is to have a reaction, but I’ve never bothered since then. I think the itching thing is normal because it happens to me every single time.
