How can I get my hair from black to cherry red?

I have dark brown hair naturally, but have dyed it black for years.
I really want to change it to bright red, how do I do this?

Yeah, you’re going to have to either strip it or bleach it. It’s pretty much the same thing. Then dye it red. Get it done professionally or else you’ll screw your hair up and be ready to get a trim and an oil treatment when you’re done because bleach kills your hair.

  3. You can always go to a hair salon, but you are going to be looking at a pretty penny for them to do so. All you need to do is go to the store and buy bleach. The best kind to use is born blonde or super blonde (thats the brand name). While your there pick out the color you like go with a darker red since the blonde will lighten it. Dye your hair blonde first, it will turn a dark oarnge color or maybe a brown. Then wait till the next day then dye it red. Trust me I do it all the time. I have had my hair every color imaginable. Right now it is black blonde and pink :)

The absolute best thing is to have it done professionally by someone who specializes in color. You could do real harm to your hair, not to mention your scalp. The processes and products you would need to use are incredibly harsh. If money is an issue maybe you could try a beauty school where the students do the work under the guidance of professionals. The last resort is doing it yourself and a lot can go wrong. Someone in a beauty supply could guide you but, you’re taking a huge risk on the person’s knowledge base.
