Does it hurt to wear a wetsuit after getting your belly button pierced?

I want to get my belly button pierced but I surf and kayak a lot and I was wondering if the wetsuit would irritate it, being so skin-tight? Also would just lying on the board be enough to cause pain? I have a lot of piercings anyway so I know I heal well and I’ve never had an infection. I’ve also wondered about this for neck piercings, but I wouldn’t say there would be as much of an interference. Also also, the water here is way too cold to go without a wetsuit, so that option is out!

  1. yes it will irritate if not infect it all together.

think, it needs oxygen to heal. you’re sealing a very sensitive piercing area for an extended period of time it a water tight seal.

Maybe wait for the season to be over? Or take a break from these activities until it is fully healed. Don’t take the risk of infection. It’s not worth it.

i got my bellybutton pierced, and literally two days later i had a ballet class / rehearsal.
that means constricting tights and leotards over my torso getting all sweaty and wet while moving around, A LOT
yes, it’s a little sore, but you wont be screaming in the middle of a wave or anything.
just make sure to clean it VERY WELL after your activities, or else it will get infected.
