What are the chances of contracting necrosis through a septum piercing?

I previously asked a question about the cartilage in septum piercings and someone answered that they can pierce the sweet spot, and it should be fine unless necrosis sets in. i’m very concerned and may just get cyber bites if the chances are high. Is it very possible, and are there definite ways to prevent it?

I have plenty of friends who have gotten septum piercings and not one got necrosis, and that’s out of almost 200 friends and/or acquaintances. So, the chances aren’t very high.
    Hope I helped.

  2. It depends on how you care for it. Go to a reputable and clean piercing shop. Buy your first ring or bar there, and verify with the shop that it is sterile. They will give you instructions on how to keep it clean and what the signs of infection are. Follow their instructions closely and regularly throughout the healing process and you minimize the chance of an infection. You will likely not get necrosis if you catch an infection before it gets too bad. Lots of water is a good idea while you are healing. Also, consider getting a nickel free bar or ring in case you are sensitive to it, just one less factor to complicate the healing process.
