i have my hair dyed brown (but it still has a slight red tent)

I have dark brown hair with highlights kind of
and i looove it (well i like it)
but i want to dye it something different.
not totally different, just like brown with some red tints or whatever.

But i’m afraid that when it fades my hair isn’t going to be the same /:
will it be lighter or darker? and is there a way to get my hair back to the same color as my original if i ever want to go back because i don’t like the color?

Do I nessisarily have to bleach it if it’s already blonde/ redish ?? Will going over it again with natural light blonde do the trick ?
