(Question from Australia)
One side of my head in particular, has partly and badly matted hair. (long straight)
I have already spoken to hairdressers about this, and have been told about long teeth (volumising) combs and using a conditioner enriched with moisture, for my dry and damaged hair, which I have since bought.
I have also been told to use an additional hair care product, like a spray/leave in spray or serum.
I was going to ask, as I have noticed that, the only sprays (non hairspray sprays) hair products I noticed on supermarket and chemist shelves, were leave in conditoners, as I already have a moisture rich conditioner for this particular situation, (although I have been told by one hairdresser, that using a spray afterwards would be of use/benefit,) I have since been wondering, what would be the point of buying/using a leave in conditioner (as well) following using/lathering in a usual conditioner?
I was told that serums are oily, although one other hairdresser mentioned to me to try and use everything – conditioner and additional products – spray/serum to work on the affected matted area of my head/hair.
I’ve noticed Schwarzkopf has a few different (Hair Repair) conditioners, but as I already have bought a conditioner, despite the situation with some matting, whether it’s useful/any point with using an additional leave in conditioner afterwards?
I don’t know much about sprays and serums, but from what I remember when I was reading the back of the bottles (labels/stickers) on them the other day in the supermarket, aren’t serums for other purposes – such as smoothing/smooth hair?
I don’t want to make my hair oily/any oilier.
I have seen those tubs of mask/masking creams/solutions for hair, but although I don’t know the first thing about them, I haven’t been specifically told to try/use them either.
This is a new situation for me, in regard to matted/badly matted hair, from what I’ve been told, to try and push, (but not roughly though, nor force,) work through, a long tooth comb (either smaller or larger in size) through, from the lower/bottom, up, every half a centimetre to each centimetre upwards/higher.
Does anyone, have any experience, advice or suggestions, in regard to this? Thank you
On one web site about matted hair, someone suggested using baby oil (out of all things) and another suggested Garnier Fructis Intense Anti-Frizz Serum (more for dreadlocks, although dreadlocks are said to be matted too)
But either would make your hair oily/or oilier wouldn’t they?
Won’t anti-frizz/smoothing serums be oily?
